PEDIATRICS
Pediatric acupuncture is a safe and gentle treatment option specifically tailored for infants and children. I am trained in a Japanese style of pediatric acupuncture called Shonishin. This needleless technique involves a series of gentle movements such tapping, rubbing, and brushing the skin's surface to stimulate meridians and acupuncture points. By fostering balance and harmony in the body, Shonishin strengthens the immune system, improves digestion, regulates sleep patterns, supports emotional well-being, and alleviates common childhood ailments.
The non-invasive nature of this technique makes it a welcoming and enjoyable experience for children. They often look forward to being treated again! As they grow accustomed to the process and mature in age, the integration of very fine acupuncture needles can complement a Shonishin treatment. I also incorporate other modalities such as massage, herbal medicine, and dietary recommendations into a treatment plan to support your child's wellbeing.
By utilizing these natural therapies, we not only address current health concerns, but also lay a strong foundation for their future health. Pediatric acupuncture can be used alongside conventional medical treatments to support healthy growth and development and overall physical and emotional well-being.
Conditions commonly treated with pediatric acupuncture include colic, reflux, failure to thrive, sleep issues, colds and coughs, fever, allergies, asthma and eczema, bedwetting, digestive and gut health, anxiety, and symptoms associated with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
